Should You Get Teeth Grinding Treatment? (Quiz)

Hard Time Chewing Solutions in Montgomery, AL by Dr. Chet Swatzentruber of Carmichael Dental Care

Teeth grinding, also called bruxism, can damage your tooth enamel to the point where teeth chip and even break. It can also put so much pressure on your jaw that you develop a TMJ disorder, a painful condition that can make it difficult to chew or otherwise use your jaw. Teeth grinding treatment can help prevent both of these problems.

We offer two types of treatment that can help stop grinding, a habit that is often associated with stress:

  • Mouthguard – We can fit you for a custom-made mouthguard that you wear while sleeping. It gently moves your jaw into a position that not only prevents grinding, but also relieves pressure on your jaw.
  • Botox – Injections of Botox can also relax your muscles and prevent problematic grinding and clenching behaviors.

Many people grind their teeth without even knowing it, which means they can experience some pretty serious damage with no idea what caused it. Take our quiz to see if you could have a teeth grinding problem. If you do, we’re happy to treat it.
